John Branham
John Branham was born in Colorado Springs, CO. He spent his adolescent years in Indiana. John endured a lot of family trauma at a young age, which he would use as an excuse to allow his life to go down a tumultuous path.
After walking out on my family in 2006, I moved to Utah to try something different, soon falling into the wrong crowd and becoming addicted to methamphetamine. During his chaotic, downward spiral, he brought another child into the world. His life was in complete disarray, using drugs and living on the streets, only thinking about himself and his next fix.
After being homeless on the streets and eating out of dumpsters for a little over 4 years he had to do something different with his life. John was arrested for the last time in 2017, while in jail The Other Side Academy presented itself, John wrote a letter and was accepted.
John started his life-changing journey in December of 2017. “I went through this process and learned how to live a better life. I can truly say I love the person that is looking back at me in the mirror. I am a man of strong integrity, I am extremely accountable for my actions whether it be good or bad. I am the same man in every single room today. I don’t pretend to be someone I am not. I am continuing to rebuild the relationships I burnt down over the years. It may not be easy but it is worth it. I can’t imagine my life any other way now. I have truly learned forgiveness. I forgive those that have harmed me, and myself for hurting others. I am grateful for the man I am today. I will continue to balance the scales by being better today than I was yesterday.”
